Hesper Wolfe, the Subversive Seamstress, is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but now resides in Chicago, Illinois. She
currently has the very stressful yet rewarding job of being a high school art educator. After a long, harrowing day of dealing
with demanding teenagers, she loves to relax by sewing, embroidering, or painting her stress away.
Motivated by her thrifty nature and love of all things retro, she began to design her own ipod cases and purses from vintage
fabrics she salvaged from thrift stores. After a tremendous response from family and friends, she developed Subversive Seamstress
Designs to sell her products to the general public.
All Subversive Seamstress Designs are hand-made and one-of-a-kind. Annoyed with the cheap & conformist construct of
accessories and apparel in large corporate stores, she works diligently to produce distinctive, high quality pieces that will
last for years to come. She also goes out of her way to make her products as unique as her customers, often adding embroidery,
stencils, or silk screens to give them 'personality.'
Lastly, aside from sewing, she also love to produce multi-media artwork. She frequently juxtaposes painted figures (inspired
from vintage greeting cards) with found objects, such as discarded toys, vintage doll parts, or everyday objects picked up
off the street. She's also started to use vintage fabrics and embroidery in her art as well.
